Roscoe, Texas: Helicopter Hog Hunting

Most of the questions we get are the same ones, so here they are with straight answers. Season dates, weight limits, licenses, guns, deposits and what happens when the weather turns. If you don’t see your question, call us. We’d rather answer it now than on the morning of your hunt.
Our season runs January 15 through May 1. We’ll sometimes make exceptions if you’re already going to be in the area for something else, so ask.
Three reasons. Deer season is over, the leaves are off the trees so you can see and shoot hogs, and it’s cool instead of 100 degrees.
Yes. We fly Robinson R44s. The seat limit is 300 lbs per shooter and we keep the combined weight of both shooters under 500 lbs.
Yes. We can run a Bell Jet Ranger or Long Ranger, which both accommodate larger shooters. It’s an additional cost and has to be set up in advance.
Everything except your hunting license. Guns, ammo, safety briefing and the flight are all provided.
Technically no, not for hogs. You do need one to shoot coyotes or bobcats. We recommend every shooter get one anyway, since it’s a gray area with Texas Parks and Wildlife. A 5-day non-resident license runs around $45.
Yes. We’re updating our lodging options now, and we can build a package that includes lodging, food, drinks and even a full-time chef. Ask when you book.
It’s hunting, so there’s no guarantee. Some hours it’s 5 to 15, some it’s 30 or more. The difference is we fly straight to the hogs instead of waiting on them.
Yes. Thermal hunts include guns and ammo. You can bring your own thermal setup if the guide approves it before the hunt.
Yes, with limits. Nothing larger than .223, and we prefer it suppressed. Every rifle must be approved by the pilot before the flight. If the pilot rejects it, you’ll use ours. Our recommendation is to use our rifles. They’re set up for the helicopter and we’ve seen too many hunts slowed down by gun problems.
We can normally handle 12 or more shooters at a time.
At least two hours per shooter.
Yes, 4 hours. If your schedule is flexible, we can sometimes fit you in alongside hunts we’re already running.
Yes, 50% at booking. The deposit is non-refundable unless you cancel at least 30 days before your hunt.
We reschedule or refund. We’d rather reschedule and get you in the air.
High winds, rain, fog, or anything the pilot decides is unsafe. The pilot’s call is final.
Every hunt starts with a safety briefing and a walkthrough of firearm procedures. We prefer every shooter has completed a hunter safety course, especially anyone bringing younger hunters.
Yes, if they have a valid hunter safety certificate and can safely handle a rifle on their own.
Sometimes, if the pilot is comfortable with the weight and conditions. Don’t plan on it. Safety comes first.
We meet at a central location, run the safety briefing and get in the air. Flights run about an hour at a time, which gives everyone a chance to stretch, use the restroom and rotate shooters in bigger groups. We fly the hours you’ve booked, then close out for the day.
Yes, as long as daylight and our schedule allow.
This sh*t is NO JOKE.
